What is Susceptibility?
The ultimate goal of any treatment should be to reduce your susceptibility to illness.
So what does that mean?
It means that you have reached a state of resilience where you can maintain happy and stable mental and physical health, without the use of daily pharmaceutical or natural medicine supplementation. You do still need to continue to work on having a healthy diet and lifestyle, as those lay the foundations for health.
Examples of susceptibility are conditions called PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) and PANDAS-Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections.
These disorders are caused by strep and other types of infections or environmental toxins.
Let’s talk about PANDAS. PANDAS develops when a strep infection starts to attack the brain and nervous system. This results in the development of tics, OCD, emotional lability, cognitive and developmental regression, and other neuropsychiatric and somatic symptoms. Strep is a common infection in children, but not every kid that gets strep throat develops PANDAS. Why is that? The answer is because some children have an increased susceptibility to this illness.
Susceptibility is affected by genetics, environment, emotional and physical stress, underlying health imbalances, and general diet and lifestyle.

So how do we decrease a person’s susceptibility?

The first step is to find and treat the root causes of imbalance in the body, and to stimulate true healing. Homeopathic medicine is the best treatment I have found both clinically and personally to do this. Homeopathy is such a powerful and effective medicine because it is individualized and stimulates true healing in the body and over time ultimately reduces a person’s susceptibility to illness.
